About the powered pallet truck

Powered pallet trucks (PPTs) move loads at floor level or with a small lift of a few centimetres. Pedestrian-operated versions have a tiller arm and the operator walks beside or behind the truck; rider versions add a platform or stand-in cab so the operator can travel longer distances at higher speed.

Because they are simple to drive, PPTs are often used by untrained staff — and they account for a large share of warehouse injuries, mostly crushed feet and collisions when reversing with the tiller. The course puts the operator in the right position relative to the truck, teaches tiller control and the belly-button reversing switch, and covers loading lorries over dock plates and tail lifts.

Training takes one day for novices and is one of the most cost-effective safety investments a warehouse can make.

On-site, on your truck

We bring an accredited instructor to your premises in Derby or anywhere in Derbyshire. You provide the truck and a safe working area; we provide everything else, including the theory material, test papers and HSE-recognised certificate. Novice, semi-experienced, refresher and conversion packages are all available for this truck.
