Bendi and Flexi (Articulated) Forklift training in Derby
Articulated trucks that bend in the middle, so they can unload a lorry outside and then stack in a 1.8 metre aisle without changing machines.

About the bendi and flexi (articulated) forklift
Bendi and Flexi are the two best-known brands of articulated forklift, and the names are often used generically. The front half of the truck, carrying the mast and forks, pivots relative to the rear chassis. With the front articulated through 90 degrees the mast faces the racking while the body stays in line with the aisle, so the truck can work in aisles close to those of a reach truck.
Unlike a reach truck, an articulated forklift has no outriggers and has counterbalance-style traction, so it can go outside, cross yards and load vehicles. That "one truck for everything" capability is its selling point, and it is also why it needs dedicated training — the handling is unlike either a counterbalance or a reach truck.
Operators learn to approach racking with the correct articulation, to understand how stability changes as the front end swings, and to avoid the common mistake of steering out of a bay before the forks are clear of the beam.
What the course covers
- Pre-use checks including the articulation joint
- Steering geometry and the swept path of the mast
- Narrow-aisle stacking with the front end articulated
- Travelling with the truck straight: yard work and vehicle loading
- Stability at height and on gradients
- Charging and parking
